Wallum Lake
Wallum Lake is a 322-acre (1.30 km2) lake that is located in Douglas, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and Burrillville, Providence County, Rhode Island. It is close to Wallum Lake Park and Douglas State Forest.
There are two paved boat ramps: the first is in Douglas, Massachusetts, off Wallum Lake Road, and the second is in Burrillville, Rhode Island, at the southernmost point. Based on a survey conducted in the summer of 1994, a research found ten kinds of fish. It’s common to catch bluegills, golden perch, and largemouth bass. Pumpkinseed, chain pickerel, landlocked alewife, brood salmon, and eels were among the other species that were there. Rhode Island restrictions are in effect, however, licenses from any state are accepted.
There are brown and rainbow trout in Wallum Lake now. The state of Rhode Island has stocked countless landlocked salmon as well as occasionally broodstock salmon. Rainbow trout are stocked on a put-and-take basis.

Worden Pond
Worden Pond is situated in South Kingstown, Washington County, Rhode Island. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in the state of Rhode Island and the second-largest freshwater lake in the state after Scituate Reservoir.
When King Philip’s War broke out in June 1675, Roger Williams asked Richard Smith’s Castle to host a meeting between the Narragansett tribal leaders and the Massachusetts government. The Narragansetts decided to meet at Worden Pond with Queen Quaiapen, Ninigret, Quinnapin, and Quaunochu in order to assuage Queen Quaiapen’s concerns. They also pledged to deliver Philip to the English if he sought safety with the Narragansetts. Worden Pond was close to the fort in the Great Swamp.
Aside from swimming, Worden Pond is a great area to windsurf, sail, kayak, and canoe. The Great Swamp Wildlife Management Area, which offers fantastic hiking, wildlife viewing, and cycling, is located near the northern end of the lake.

Scituate Reservoir
The largest inland body of water in the state of Rhode Island is the Scituate Reservoir. Its total volume is 39 billion US gallons, and its surface area is 13.7 km2. More than 60% of the state’s population, including Providence, receives drinking water from it and its six tributary reservoirs, which have a combined surface area of 18.6 km2.
About 243.5 km2 of the adjacent drainage basin, which supplies water to the reservoir system, is made up of Foster, Glocester, Johnston, and Cranston, as well as the majority of Scituate. The Providence Water Supply Board is in charge of managing the Scituate Reservoir.
The 1,400-hectare lake is fashioned like a Y and is encircled by trees. The Providence Water Supply Board, which owns it, keeps the area secure to preserve the water’s quality. Due to its preservation, there is no construction near the lake, making it a peaceful location to sit and read a book, practice meditation, or ponder. There isn’t much else to do here but enjoy the scenery. Scituate Reservoir is one of the best lakes to visit in Rhode Island.

Miscoe Lake
Miscoe Lake is a reservoir in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island. The lake’s northernmost point, which is 1.3 km long, is in Wrentham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. It has a surface area of 49 acres when conditions are typical (20 ha). It has also been referred to as Miso Meadow Pond and Grants Mills Pond.
Historic Grant’s Mill is situated near the lake’s southern end. It is located in the 1937-erected Miscoe Lake Dam, also known as Grants Mill Pond Dam. The highest discharge from the dam, which has a height of 4.3 m and a length of 23 m, is 2.0 m3 per second. It has a 244-acre-foot capacity and typically stores 226 acre-feet. The dam drains 7.8 km2.
The lake is a sanctuary for nature lovers because it is home to a variety of wildlife species. The lake is home to a variety of creatures, including beavers, herons, swans, turtles, and cormorants.
At the southern end of the lake, on the site of the current Miscoe Lake, was the former Grant’s Mill. Diamond Hill Park, which has picnic spots, sports grounds, and a walking track, is just beyond it.

Boone Lake
Northeastern Tennessee’s Sullivan and Washington counties contain the reservoir known as Boone Lake, which was created by holding back the South Fork Holston River and Watauga River behind Boone Dam. The Tennessee Valley Authority is in charge of maintaining and running the dam and reservoir (TVA). The lake has a surface size of around 18 km2 and a 93,534,000 m3 flood storage capacity. Over the course of a year, the reservoir’s water levels can vary by up to 6 meters.
Boone Lake may be one of the state’s lesser lakes, but the lakefront real estate there carries a southern punch: a 2020 research found that the average cost of shorefront property was a swanky $1.37 million. Boone Lake is now ranked as the sixteenth most expensive lake in terms of lakefront property in the country. The lake’s accessibility, beauty, and shoreline were significantly diminished at the time of the study because the dam restoration was still in progress.
Among the lake’s recreational amenities are a swimming area and a boat ramp. Fishing and water skiing are popular lakeside pastimes. Sport fishermen are drawn to the lake’s brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and striped bass fish species. Due to PCB and chlordane concentrations, there are precautionary fish consumption advisories for catfish and carp.

Diamond Hill Reservoir
The Pawtucket Upper Reservoir, commonly known as Diamond Hill Reservoir, is a reservoir next to Diamond Hill in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island.
The earthen Diamond Hill Reservoir Dam, which has an 80-foot height and a crest length of 2000 feet, was built in 1971. The Abbott Run stream is impounded for use as a municipal water supply. The Water Supply Board of the city of Pawtucket is the owner and operator of both the dam and the reservoir.
It produces a reservoir with a typical surface area of 390 acres, a maximum storage capacity of 15,680 acre-feet, and a typical storage area of 11,000 acre-feet. The Arnold Mills Reservoir is located directly to the south.
Enjoy the breathtaking views of the 158-hectare lake as you go down Reservoir Road. Diamond Hill Park offers breathtaking vistas of the lake as well. The dawn and sunset are particularly stunning at Diamond Hill Reservoir. In fact, many locals use Reservoir Road as a jog, walk, or bike path frequently for this reason.

Bowdish Lake
Bowdish Lake is a public area in the northwest of Rhode Island that is near to the state of Connecticut and open to the public. For families, there are two excellent camping alternatives nearby. On the lake’s northeastern shore, the Bowdish Lake Campground provides a wonderful outdoor adventure. For a complete listing of their activities, see their website!
The George Washington Campground, a second campground close to the southeast shoreline, is smaller and quieter but still provides plenty of opportunities for lake swimming and boating. There is a boat ramp you can use to access the water if you own a boat but are not a resident. Enjoy a leisurely day on your boat, but be sure to first research the laws governing speed limitations while operating a vessel.
Additionally popular here is fishing, particularly for those with beachfront homes! Swimming and tanning are other options, as well as hiking the neighboring Walkabout Trail Loop! Bowdish Lake is one of the best lakes to visit in Rhode Island.

Edgewood Lake
A few miles from nearby Cranston, Edgewood Lake is situated in the southern region of Providence Country. It’s also frequently referred to as Cunliff Pond or Edgewood Pond. It’s a well-liked destination for any day excursion to Providence, especially if you’re going to Roger William Park, which is frequently a top attraction for local and foreign families.
The 3.8 Roger William Pond Loop is a well-liked trip that circles the park’s lakes, including Edgewood Lake, and provides excellent views of the surroundings as well as many of opportunities to see wildlife. The Boathouse is an excellent site to start the hike.

Spring Lake
Spring Lake is one of the best lakes to visit in Rhode Island, and it’s situated in the charming community of Glendale. Due to the fact that it is also the location of Spring Lake Beach, it is very well-liked among Rhode Islanders. There are so many amenities and leisure options available.
Visitors have the option to buy volleyball and badminton equipment at the beachside store, and swimming classes are also provided with a schedule and more details online. Canoe and kayak rentals are very common, and many people rent them out in the summer to enjoy the water. Everyone can use the restrooms and outdoor showers, and there is a playground for younger kids.
As there are picnic benches accessible for families to utilize as well, make sure to pack food. There is a resident/non-resident entrance fee for access to the lake and beach, and lifeguards are on duty when the beach first opens. Don’t forget to check out the arcade, which is renowned for having some of America’s first arcade game varieties! Some fantastic old games can be played for as little as one penny!
